2016-01 Northern Peninsula Area Gamba Grass Control 2014 & 2015

Gamba Grass (Andropogon gayanus) is a significant weed in Queensland and is a declared pest under Queensland legislation. Cape York NRM provides support to the Injinoo Ranger Base, Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council/Apudthama Land & Sea Rangers as part of the‘Reducing the impact of pests and weeds: Strategic landscape scale control while building land management knowledge and skills’ project.

2010-12 Northern Peninsula Area Community Plan 2010-2020

This community plan is the result of consultation with the Injinoo, Bamaga, New Mapoon and Seisia community forums and feedback gained from Public meetings held to inform this plan and the NPA Local Indigenous Partnership Agreement. A separate meeting was held with the Apudthama Land Trust. This consultation was carried out in accordance with Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council’s Community Engagement Policy.

This plan captures the vision of the community , and will act as the reference for Council actions in the future. Council will also refer various funding bodies to this Community Plan when they have intentions of carrying out work in the community.

The Land and Sea Ranger Programme operates through the Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council and is jointly run with custodians of the land, The Apudthama Land Trust. The Ranger program manages local natural resources over approximately 250,000 Ha of land, including 300km of coastline which spans both the east and west coasts of Cape York Peninsula.
