Aerial Pest Control Map 2015 Cape York Weeds and Feral Animals Inc.

Aerial run of pest animal control which was carried out in 2015 as part of a broader pest management program. These activities work towards delivering on a strategy of integrated aerial and on-ground feral pig control measures involving shooting, trapping and baiting to reduce pig numbers to a target of 70 percent each year over Central Cape York.
Control measures undertaken by Cape York Weeds and Feral Animals Inc. includes aerial shooting by expert marksmen trained in platform shooting.
180 pigs were removed from Yarraden and Crystalvale Stations. These were primarily from the riparian zones on the Lukin River, Holroyd River, Kendle River, Sandalwood Creek, Duckhole Creek, Eight Mile Creek, Station Creek and Lagoon Creek .In addition the assorted lagoons and man made watering points were extensively covered.
